| Pat, loaded up frankenmap this afternoon and will see what you have done. My apologies for not trying it sooner, but I am a known slacker... | |

| bwahahahahahaahaaaaaaaa...........
well, ok, I'm finishing off a bottle of overproof Fiji Rum..... It doesn't have the throttle-off big engine brake that BeetleTech designed for you, but it feels smoother around town, and I like the crackle and pop that the low down 'extra' fuel provides on overrun. The last fang that I did had the red light flashing in top gear across the Highlands, and I beat the googlemap estimate by keeping the volume knob around 5G as much as I could for at least 6 of the 8 hours and still returned 6.0 as an average on the two fuel ups. (first had 98kmph ave, second was 88). I'm happy with it. I should really do a few logging runs and pull the plugs, but....

| Since, I hurt my back last week, and was unable to ride, today I tested Frankenmap on the road. Low speed is quite nice, WOT is the same.
I did have a moment though, when I overtook some dickheads on the freeway this morning. Normally I would get past and back off, bike slows down and "normal" speed resumes. Not today though. Engine braking gone - what used to be positive engine braking is now a gentle reduction is speed which takes more time than I am used to - Caveat Emptor! The vehicle in front came up very quickly indeed and I had to do some fast maneuvering to avoid being a bumper bar ornament! Me likey strong engine brakes - this is a whole new ball game. Might need to discuss with Mr Beetle over a black beer, or several, in only a few short weeks, in Lue...
Brakes, stuff that, don't want to wear them out, I might need them some day. I still have the original Brembo HH pads in the front after 90 odd thousand kilometres. I replaced the rear around 60,000 km.

| Tony Bad backs suck as I know. Hope all is on the mend. I didn't know a map could change the engine braking as I thought it was more to do the fly wheel weight.

| Mark treaked FrankenMap to include sufficient engine braking. Harry, the principle of having no fuel in the cylinders allows the pistons to act as compressors (compressing mainly air, when fuel is eliminated) and as such tend to decelerate the engine aka engine braking - kinda like the reverse of a fuel/air mixture when ignited, allows acceleration - therefore deceleration or engine braking.
I hope this makes sense - I have consumed "some" Coopers (Best Extra) Stout, and am washing it down with some Coruba dark rum - straight of course!
Hopefully a test run (to/from work) will allow some most excellent "seat of the pants" evaluation. Me likey engine brakes - you back off and things slow down - you hit the hurry handle and things speed up. It's what we do on bikes...
Harry, sorry I missed your last two calls, but I still have dark red spark plug caps for you - life is a tad hectic at the moment. Excuses, excuses - what I mean is I am S-L-A-C-K. You coming with us in November?

| Tony "You coming with us in November?" not sure, if other things have been booked in as it's up in the air at the moment. But if I do, I think I'll get the camping gear out and it would be ride out Saturday. Is camping near the pub?
