| well, more of a Tajikistan crisis of camels and rubber, but I'll get to the China bit... A good buddy of mine is on day 53 of his trip from Scotland to Australia on his 'off forum' bmw 800... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.](google "Trailing horizons" for the blog...) Bruce has been destroying inner tubes for a week or so now and has more patches than tube apparently. He contacted me today whilst on a 12 hour each way shared taxi trip to the nearest town that 'may have' some tubes...they didn't. My task now is to get some heavy duty tubes to his next major town -which is 800 km away from him. being Kashgar, Xinjiang in Western China. I know, right, simple huh. Well it would be if Tasmania had ever heard of Fed-Ex or DHL, but they haven't! (opportunity??). Do any of the gentlemen of the Ghetto have any contacts to achieve this before I call a bike shop on the big island and have them premium price this mission. apologies for a non GRiSO post... | |

| Haha Street, I soooo need some 'gimp' lessons!!! Ghezzi, Brewster did say that the camels were eating the foliage quicker than he could harvest... Pete, I actually finally found a local guy who delivers to DHL up there on the big island, and a soothing voice at DHL quoted me $287 for two days landed in country, then up to seven days donkey post to get to the province... Not bad too I think, given the situation. Michelin 4mm tubes x 4 come in around $160 (21s and 17s), and for total price he can buy a house over there. They do have some 19s and 18s that they are 'making' fit, but... I'm waiting on the go/no go text, but given the lack of spinifex...
Gentlemen, grazie mille for your input.

| I know, completely off topic and not very helpful, sorry, but that camp stove and Bialetti espresso pot reminded me of the lunar landing module... And then I recalled seeing this wonderful painting which relates to my theme and it's Chinese! | always on topic... it is all about perspective! I flicked him your art, and he said "I've got a coffee pot just like that" sigh. He is looking at it on his phone...
However, good news at hand; Crisis has been averted. A german girl on a Trumpy Tiger has appeared over the horizon, and solved many a problem I believe... I may have to send the other kind of rubber. | |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Today's effort..... "We got a flat then replaced it with the 18in. The valve stem broke. Anyway after junior got bitten by a dog. That's right. So we cut our losses and headed back to the Pamier lodge. Good call, I got a new 17 for German girl. The Italians are here so Matao who is a mechanic and 2 Swiss guys on KTMs who are bike mechanics went into action like a F1 pit crew I should all be sorted now. And junior had all the attention from the young French hippy doctor girl. The day started shit but ended great. Travelling today with the the Italians an German girl. Should be good!" At least they have beer! | |
