| Went to change my oil this evening... First started off by dropping by beer and having it explode all over the garage... Great start
Well anyway pull the plug drain most of the oil out and put the wrench on the filter and go to take it off.... Nothing but slipping Even when I put pressure on it It still slips... Gonna let it cool down and try again. Neighbor recommended an option of drilling it, putting a screw driver in, and using that to torque the filter off--- Thoughts/advice
Oil looked used but not bad when I took it out. Worst case scenario I don't change the filter and let the shop deal with the filter next oil change?
Shoulda called it quits after I spilled my beer

| Try wedging a piece of wet or dry paper or sandpaper in the tool, let the grit grip the tool and filter, should stop it slipping. fill your filter before installing | |

| I usually just use a piece of rag. put it over the filter, hammer on the cup wrench, try again. if its really stuck, and they sometimes are, buy a gasket and drop the sump, its only 18 bolts. Then you can get a strap wrench on it.

| I have a oil filter tool with 2 self tapping screws tapped in. I fit the tool and run the 2 screws down into the filter. Always works as work shop mechanics tend to torque up oil filters. Hope this helps Mick | |

| Had the same issue with my GRiSO. The idiot owner before me wrenched the bloody thing down to the point where the cap filter wrench would slip before moving it.
Solution was easy: First punch a small hole in the middle bottom of the filter; drain the oil out. While the oil is draining, take the cap oil filter wrench and drill two little holes either side of the 3/8 drive hole. Then mount the cap filter wrench on the filter and run two sheetrock screws into the filter via the two little holes; no need to run them all the way down 1/2 in. will do. Then use your 3/8 in. drive to SLOWY remove filter. The screws will add the extra bit of hold to let the wrench loosen the filter. | |

| I got one of these from Amazon. It worked great. The Dealer had put one on with no flat spots around the edge. All it had was some little dimples around the edge for some special tool. Never had seen one like that before. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

| I got something similar^^^^^^^^^^^. It does work great no matter how stubborn that filter is. | |

| I use a large flathead screwdriver. The oilpan has a point from where you can lever with the screwdriver and turn the oilfilter.(works both ways) | |

| Good luck getting it on the filter, there's not a lot of room between the sump recess walls and side of cartridge | |
