I have TWO ratty tail section to experiment on. I recall someone doing a nice neat job.

Fender or tail cowling?
Personally, I wouldn't do anything to a tail cowling...

That is some real fancy handywork. I like how he cut out sections that were hidden anyhow, just to show off to the rest of us of his superior dremel skills. Very nice...

It is very tidy . But spend a full day in the rain and you'll appreciate a full length rear gaurd
