Adjustable Oil-Cooler Cover

P.S. Balmy, I suppose, if you live in North Dakota, but at the top of Virginia at near 6 a.m. just now, it's 14F outside with winds a bit more than that in mph.  Brrrrr.  Hard to miss my GRiSO in these conditions!

The oil cooler cover while adjustable would do next to stuff all to help increase the oil temp IMO as the ram air entering the front area can still pass through the oil cooler fins and exit the open rear area of the cover. What do the adjustable slots do  ,  apart from look pretty ?
Edit : Sorry Bill , I'm not trying to be a smart arse here, I just think it would not help you to much in your present climate. If the outlet at the rear was blocked off sufficiently and then you regulated the slots
