Subject: Where to get carbon bits? Mon Sep 14, 2015 4:42 pm
Just picked up a new 2014 GRiSO and looking to swap some of the flat black plastic bits for something shinier. It looks like there is a starter motor cover and exhaust heat shield at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] (anyone in NA ever order from there?).
A google image search also reveals there are carbon injector covers, carbon valve covers to replace the plastic ones, and additional carbon protectors you can stick on the leading edge of the head covers. Any ideas where to obtain those?

Most of those items came from Stucchi Luigi, now defunct for the most part.

I've got a couple of carbon pieces you can have. They're the diamond shaped injector covers. Guy that owned the bike before me put them on along with the carbon valve cover pieces, which have both been ruined.
PM me your address if you want them. I'll mail them next week when I get back home.

That's unfortunate that no one else is making them.
Thanks for the very kind offer Laker!

Hey Tozim. I've ordered a part from Stein-Dinse and want to give you a heads up before you order.
The way their online shopping 'system' works, is that you first have to go through the process
of ordering the part online, and then they examine your order and send you back a confirmation e-mail (days later)
as to whether or not they have that part in stock. If they do, you then have to open the PDF attached to the confirmation e-mail , make note of the confirmation number, then go on to PayPal and send them
the amount quoted in the form. You then have to wait for them to accept the money (I'm still
waiting for that to happen over a week later on my third attempt to order) and then, apparently, they will ship
your order. I started this process up with them in early August, and I'm still waiting for my
part. Hope you have better luck than I had.

Thanks for the heads up Dave, that sounds like quite the ... process. Maybe I'll order a bit later in the fall and they will ship in time for next season to start

Just got the carbon injector covers that Laker sent, thanks a lot, they look great!
One note of warning, the carbon one's come 'pre-flexed'. Since the plastic ones can bend they made them stick out more, the carbon ones are made to rest up against the wire underneath - probably so they won't vibrate or flex as much and possibly crack. This also means they don't line up with the bottom of the tank wing bodywork like the plastic ones, if that bothers anyone.

Ooh that looks great, but I really love my wire spokes. First goal is to replace anything chrome or black plastic.
I'm on the fence with the heat shield, since that seems to be shiny stainless and looks ok against the pipes.

The original owner of my bike bought those injector covers as well as the valve covers, which didn't line up well on one side. After he scuffed them up he wasn't able to find them again. They may have been a one off creation? I'm not sure if you're after real carbon or the carbon look but have you considered getting some of the pieces dipped? They may fit better and be more cost effective.

I'll hold out for the real stuff, I don't think I would be happy with the look of the wrapped\dipped. I intend to have this bike for a good long time so I am in no hurry to have all those parts changed.

I remember the first time I read your thread about making these wheels fit. Brilliant feat of tenacious ingenuity. If I were a wealthy man I'd order some.

Hi,
Tozim, do you want real carbon things at your bike? If so, I don't know the answer. I have several carbon look things at my black G12. Carbon look made by H2O dipping. And all by one guy, to have the same carbon look at all products. Fly screen; Extra Fenda front; Valve Covers; Injector Covers. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I have this for 1,5 year now and still undamaged and looks fantastic. Coming winter I want to do a (plastic) belly protector from a Stelvio to hide a termostatic switch for the oil cooler.

I never liked the fenda extenda very much (although it may be useful), but I have say your carbon version looks really good!
(And I have never seen grass that green!! )

Are the injector covers a stock item on the later G's that people are switching to carbon? My G11 injectors are just out flapping in the wind....

They were a stock item from about May 2009. All the 8V's were supposed to have them but early ones didn't, presumably they just hadn't turned up when they started pumping the 8V out.
I've got a spare pair of stockers if anyone's interested. Usual story. Pay for postage and make a donation to Medicienes sans Frontiers.
