| My assumptions about my Grisos state of tune let me down a wild goose chase (ironic), unfortunately I dragged Beetle with me. I assumed that the dealer had balanced my throttle bodies and set the valves just right, not so. Beetle, in his good heartedness made me several tweaked maps to correct a sag in my throttle. I found that by adjusting my throttle cables, this helped the sag. When I learned how to set the valves (20 minutes) and re balanced the throttle bodies, this helped even further. Then I re loaded the 294C map yesterday, bike runs perfectly. I mean PERFECTLY! Two things. One - Beetle, I humbly apologize for wasting your time and talents. I should have done the tune myself before thinking about the map being a problem. Two - To all you out there with new stock Grisos, Do what Pete says -- Adjust throttle cables, set valves at 6 & 8, balance throttle bodies, reset TPS and learning parameters. THEN load 294C and see how it rides. I get it. This bike needs an on the spot tune to run open loop with the Beetle map. I retreat now to my Bat Cave to ruminate on my sins... | |

| There is no 'Sin' involved. It IS though helpful that you posted confirming what I keep banging on about.
If the tune isn't right, or very close to right, the simple fact is that no matter what you do with the map it won't run very well. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, many shops seem to think it's OK to perform and oil and filter change and then charge for a full service tune, or, quite simply, they don't have anybody who actually knows how to perform such an onerous task!
I know not everybody wants to work on their own bike or has the time. That's fine, but it behoves one to know how to perform a simple tune-up so you can check what has been done after a service. If the shop does the right thing? Then you know you're good to go and can take your bike somewhere knowing it'll be done right. If it turns out they don't understand or are silly? Go elsewhere!

| Thanks Beetle! I do feel its an important message, and I hate wasting your time you could spend on 294D. On the difficulty factor, my son come over to lend me a hand. We did the valve adjust, throttle balance and TPS reset in about an hour. It was like "OK what do you want to do now?" This is a way easier bike to maintain than my old Triumph. The tools you need are not expensive either. If you are on the fence about these things, look them up, its not that hard, and the results are an excellent running bike. Priceless, as they say. | |

| More is learned through failures than success. Hopefully, sharing these "failures" will spread the learning around. But we're just human so probably not. | |
