2) Does anyone have a Stelvio bash plate for sale??

Thanks I'm intrigued on the reason for said bash plate to be mounted to yer GRiSO ??? The oil pan is finned to assist with heat loss and is evidently strong enough to use as a jack lift point from the owners manual and the workshop manual. Are you expecting to be sliding across mud / snow with this "not-inconsiderably-weighted" motorcycle ? If so then Plan B for the re-verticalising of said GRiSO in mud / snow conditions may be worth considering .....

| I think it is just for looks and to keep the Zombie blood off of the sump as you run them over? That correct Tarsky? Adding to the look of the bike with the knobblies fitted....... | |

| While I have my opinions on such a *Project* I'll keep them to myself. My belief though is that the mount for the side stand will not allow the fitment of the Stelvio belly pan.

Adding to the look of the bike with the knobblies fitted....... Ah yes - that oh so satisfying sound of Zombie CRUNCHY BITS and the ever so piquant waft of long decayed flesh being roasted on hot engine parts - WAIT WAIT WAIT ...... I see the next big thing in movie genre - a kinda visceral yet eminently tasteful melding of the latest Mad Max offering with Zombies Everywhere - a post-apockalyptia URBAN FAIRYTALE with wall to wall GRiSOs, knobbies, side mounted RPG's and ever so nasty Zombie Cannon Fodder !!! Mr Kennedy will ya do this small thing for me ? (Mr Roper will star as "The Wrench Wizard" ) ........ it's been a long day folks - 6 hrs in the bottom of a boat grinding fiberglass will do it to ya

| This happened with just 4000k on the Tenni, I replaced the sump and looked around for a sump guard at the time, the stelvio guard was an option, but meant a lot of stuffin' around and cutting up a pricey bit of kit, thought about the fibre glass scoops as well, then figured if I'd holed the sump once, it would probably not happen again(touch wood) I was running scorpion tyres at the time, and I guess it's food for thought , that the bigger the tyre tread the more chance of flicking back bigger rocks. I'm interested in what you come up with. [/img] [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][img] [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

| Man thats looking second hand around the sump area. where do you ride? iv'e never seen a more robust sump than the GRiSO's, and you managed to hole it.
Wakey.

| I reckon the damage happened on the Oxley Hwy, there was a lot of road works at the time, but then again I've got a few K's of dirt to get home as well. Ive fitted a fender extender which helps a fair bit with the daily grunge, tho doesn't protect the sump. I'm thinking along the lines of a mesh sort of grill, if I eventually go down the sump protector road again.

| Glue a piece of 1/8" insertion rubber on the front of the sump ? | |

| Got to agree with Wakey, I would have thought it would need a monumental impact to hole / fracture the sump on the GRiSO regardless of how exposed it is ..... but there it is.
The front face and corners could certainly be made less vulnerable with some form of impact absorbing barrier. But where to mount it from and what is the downside in reduced cooling airflow around the sump ?

| Hmm, so it can be done. I'm not particularly handy with this sort of thing, but I do have some engineering friends that can probably figure it out. I'm currently looking for a used Stelvio bash plate...wish me luck! | |
