| Hello everyone Just joined up and wanted to introduce myself, I live in Huddersfield West Yorkshire England, and have just bought a 2006 1100 GRiSO about a month ago, it's my first Moto Guzzi in around 30 years of motorcycling (And my first shaft drive) despite having owned around 30 bikes from late 1960's BSA singles and Twins, 1970's Yamaha 2 stroke twins, various Honda CBR's, even a CBX, and numerous Jap naked's, sport's, tourers and enduro's. Served my time in the late '70's with a Local Vauxhall/Bedford/Opel main dealer where I started as an apprentice motor mechanic finally leaving after 10 years to move into heavy engineering manufacturing for the next 20 odd years... What I find most surprising about the GRiSO is it's imposing character and individualism, - spirit or soul - for a modern machine, usually something I only associate with engineering from a bygone age ( I also run an old '51 Ford V8 Flathead American pickup on a daily basis ), and also the outstanding quality of the design, individual components and standard of manufacture..... I'll try and post a couple of pictures tomorrow (If I can) Best wishes to you all. Kind regards John. | |

| G'day John Welcome from all down in Tasmania. I like you have recently bought a 2007 GRiSO, there is something 'special' about them. I am enjoying mine immensely, one issue is the bars for me, need to be raised and bought forward. This issue is being worked on as we speak. Anyway, welcome again and stay safe and warm. Caoi | |

| Thank you for the warm and friendly welcome everyone, I'll run through some spec's on the GRiSO tomorrow, I look forward to hearing your opinions on various GRiSO topics and your recommendations on how to get the most out of my great new Guzzi.
I'd love to join the party Blue and make the numbers up for the meet-up in the Peak District, it's not a million miles from me, but it's looking like work might get in the way...I'll see if I can sort something out as I've never seen another GRiSO out on the road before let alone a group of them together....!!
Take care all.
John.

Hi W, it's a 90 degree V, discontinued in '53, dating back to the launch in '32 it was the world's first mass produced V8 engine to use a single cast crankcase, as opposed to using two bolted together cylinder castings, and nearly sunk Ford due to the cost of development and manufacture, coupled to the expense and quantity of warranty failures in the early production years... | I had been looking for a 1100 GRiSO for a couple of months before I came across the one I have, I had decided that due to my budget and riding style an 1100 would suit me just fine, as extra top end performance and acceleration weren't as important as finding a clean and well looked after example,
I ended up buying my GRiSO from Bury St Edmonds, around 180 miles away, it was a 2006 model looked fantastic in unmarked Red, with the factory plastic protection tape on the top frame rails and under the seat, had only done 2000 dry miles, had a year's MOT, and included a Mistral exhaust silencer, small black screen, hinged brake and clutch levers, a rear hugger, power commander, carbon starter cover, genuine Moto Guzzi small tank bag and securing pad with straps and Pirelli Diablo Corsa tyres.
I am fortunate enough to have a Moto Guzzi specialist sitting on my doorstep across town, Gutsibits Slaithwaite Huddersfield, so I had a ride over last week as I wanted some genuine Chrome factory mirrors, as the ones fitted were horrible pointed Black plastic things that looked like they belonged on a Streetfighter, and the proprietor advised me the handlebars had been changed to a slightly shorter set with a little more curve to them than the original ones.
I've covered around 400 miles so far on the bike, and I am happy with it the way it is now, the only thing I may look at in the near future is the suspension adjustment settings, as it seems they are a little on the harsh side at the moment, although Huddersfield district roads are well known to be disgracefully poor....

| Hello Johnny, I had a '06 1100 and yes the suspension, especially the rear shock was a bit on the hard side, with crap damping , it's a bit of a fly in the ointment on what is otherwise a satisfying bike to ride . | |
