... at what I don't know about spark plugs.
But, I often find that I am not as smart as the things I attempt to “fix.”
In this instance, as I said, I speak of spark plugs.
Just finished the 12K service on my GRiSO.
Well, much of it, anyway, and all I intend to do just now, i.e., R&R engine, gear-box, & rear-drive oil; ditto air and oil filters; adjust valves (my first stab at the 8v version); and replace spark plugs.
It is the last that is giving me fits.
No, I don’t mean the cable-tie trick, etc.; I mean the right plug.
First of all, yes, I (think I) know that the OEM are the same as the the inner plugs for the Norge. But, ones in there from the dealer service at 6K — NGK CR8-EKB multi-ground plug — seemed to work great, so I ordered the same to R&R. Well, not quite.
I actually ordered these:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.][OBTW, the “old” ones actually look just fine (to me). See pic. But, the interval is right for change, so I did.]
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Not sure what that last “B” connotes, but the only apparent difference is the size of the terminal.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] On other plugs, I have been able to just unscrew that, leaving the smaller threaded terminal. These seems fixed, but I have not done the gorilla-torque technique yet.
And, FWIW I also have new resistor covers — NGK SB05E - 8374 — that seem to fit the larger terminal of the plugs, but, again, I haven’t a clue as to how to swap those out with the (smaller hole) versions on there now. Do they just pull apart?
So, I ask that you smart folks out there (in as kind a manner as you can summon) tell me if I can somehow use these new plugs or if I should just tell Kathi that I bought them as splendid little
objets d’art for the Moto Grappa.
Grazie,
Bill
P.S. What a PITA to reinstall the tank; think it swelled while off. Needed all sorts of persuasion to get it back in without busting something besides my lower orbs.
OTOH, I was quite pleased when the beast started after my servicing it. Finding TDC sans S & D was a new experience, but I seem to have figured that out ... to my innocent surprise and pleasure.
