On the technical side we have the news that will make the happiness of those who love the Italian eagle. The new Moto Guzzi V100 marks the birth of the new engine platform. In fact, the transversal V-engine with liquid cooling arrives, which is necessary in view of the future anti-pollution regulations, which are increasingly severe. The Italian company looks to the future with important investments that will lead to an expansion of the offer. The new 1000 engine, which on this version could already develop a power of about 120 horsepower, will in fact be used on maxienduro models, but also sporty ones, given the important performance and low weight. And it is easy to assume that the new platform lends itself to the development of different displacements, both larger and smaller. Without obviously renouncing the shaft drive.
On the new Moto Guzzi V100 we will certainly find the most advanced electronic controls (traction, ABS, cornering), which have already been developed by the group on recent Aprilia and Moto Guzzi models. The wait at this point is very high, but we bet there will be little to wait. Official photos were being taken today. The Moto Guzzi V100 is therefore ready and will be a star of EICMA.

Well, that'll be interesting if it's anything other than a mock-up. Strange thing to be investing money in when ICE powered vehicles are going to be rendered unviable soon but Piaggio aren't famed for their good decisions.

I have also read that the V100 will be presented at a Piaggio dealer meeting in September.

It would be great to see something with some “balls” to replace the 8v models, we shouldn’t have to wait much longer to know for sure, got to keep adding to my new bike fund
Thanks Jan, I came here to post the link that I had spotted on another site and seen that you beat me too it and had it posted

Life in the old dog yet!
Will be interested to see how they package it as it is not an easy engine configuration to watercool.
Well it's no harder to watercool than any other engine it's just with water cooling a transverse V architecture becomes pretty pointless. All you do is make the engine less aerodynamic by having its heads hanging out the sides. I do wish they'd shit-can the transverse V. It's outlived its usefulness.

Whatever, it will take a bit of getting used to. It looks like a modern bike but the cylinders/heads "look" wrong.
Perhaps Roper-San is on the mark - time to get rid of the transverse twin. Undecided until I see one in the flesh - not a fan!
Putting a Tuono motor in it might make some sense - though what the heck would I know?

Is has a rear hugger!
This is very unsharp ... will look better in reality I guess. Could be a good base for other models which look "more sexy" I prefer black engine paint. Is that a muffler underneath the shock?

Hello,
we're waiting for more different models.
The line in the last photo is more reminiscent of a Benelli Sei 900.
Greetings Holger

When they launched the CARC series they started with the Breva. No offence to Breva owners but it was scarcely the most exciting or avant-garde design ever to fall off the Mandello stylists pens.
Something more exceptional will hopefully be down the pipe.
Personally I want to see something that doesn't have an ICE.

I guess it's in the eye...I immediately thought..hmm...Centauro redux...fail. Maybe trying to slide the nostalgia bike fad from the seventies into the eighties? Not feeling it with that bodywork. Maybe it'll magically look better in person. And/or come in a Tenni version. After looking around a bit, I guess I'd defer to the 'Quota' lineage though.

It looks like they've situated the shock at such an angle as to eliminate the need for linkages and bearings, thus saving them the expense of packing all that grease in said bearings....

Long travel cantilever. Depending on weight and the quality of the shock it should be OK but it's a cheap option, both in price and engineering integrity. There is a very good reason both sports bikes and off roaders use a rising rate linkage. I'll be the first to say that the CARC bike linkage ratios are far from perfect. In fact I'll go so far as to say they're really pretty shit, but they're better than a cantilever system.
Couple that with the lack of subtlety of a non reactive drive, (If it's there I can't see it...) and you're already starting way behind the 8 ball in terms of suspension and drive control.

The "studies" above are just ideas/fantasies of Oberdan Bezzi. He does that all the time and he does NOT work for Guzzi. Piaggio has its own design center.
Jan, you had me all excited with the title and first few spy pics, but that didn't last very long. This picture shows imho a really ugly motorcycle with a dated, boring design, taken from the Quota and some elements from the early Kawa Versys. Nothing interesting here. There were a few rumours a couple of months ago about a possible electric Guzzi and that would have been a real milestone worthy of a 100-year anniversary. But this ... not really.
(I would not want to be a passenger on this bike...)

Hence the product looking like a gussied up scooter, I guess.
In my head, it might look better in black. And with some of the cast parts made black. From the front, at least.
I’m with Pete on this. It should be an E100! They need to stop flailing about with these mediocre retro offerings and look to the future. They already have an electric Vespa, so what’s the holdup? If a small company like Zero here in California can do it, surely Piaggio can. I rode the Zero SR/F and it’s fantastic. It’s very much like a smooth and silent GRiSO! As soon as I can get a used one for a reasonable price, I’ll own it. Most of the riding I do is within its range and for the longer trips I’ll have my GRiSO. Why these big companies are dragging their feet on electrics is beyond me.
